Hi, I’m Abigail. If you know me from school, you probably know me as Miss Gormley.
I’m a teacher, a twenty-something trying to figure things out, a lover of all things creative, and someone who has recently realized that maybe I don’t have my entire life figured out quite as much as I thought I did.
So… welcome to More Than Miss Gormley. 🤍
I created this little corner of the internet because I’ve been thinking a lot about how easy it is to become one version of yourself.
For me, that version has been “Miss Gormley.”
I love teaching. I love the funny things kids say, the little lightbulb moments, watching a student finally understand something they’ve been struggling with, and all of the little moments that make a classroom feel like its own tiny world.
But I’m also more than my classroom.
I’m figuring out what I want my career to look like. I’m learning what kind of life I want outside of work. I’m making things, dreaming about the future, laughing at things that probably aren’t actually that funny, questioning things I thought I was certain about, and trying to enjoy being 23 while I’m in the middle of becoming whoever I’m supposed to be.
And that’s really what this blog is about.
You’ll find stories from the classroom, things kids say that I absolutely cannot make up, honest thoughts about teaching, career questions, young adulthood, creativity, relationships, personal growth, and all of the little things that make up life in between.
Some posts might be thoughtful.
Some might be funny.
Some might be a little vulnerable.
And some might simply be me saying, “Okay… is it just me?”
I don’t have everything figured out, and honestly, I don’t think I’m supposed to.
So whether you’re a teacher, a twenty-something figuring life out, someone who accidentally stumbled across my little corner of the internet, or just here because you like hearing stories about what happens when you give a classroom full of children the opportunity to speak…
I’m glad you’re here.
Welcome to More Than Miss Gormley.
Let’s figure it out together. 🤍
